French questions

Sometimes it's so much easier to ask a speaker of a language, instead of
searching for obscure dictionaries. The non-obscure dictionaries I've
turned to haven't been much help.
In the French of Father Le Jeune (a Breton from Pleybert-Christ), I find
reference to Indian games or dances, with a word that I'm unsure of,
tambourinets: "jeux ou dances sauvages avec tambourinets etc."
And in an anecdote about a girl who badly wanted to take Communion before
she died, he describes her as saying to him ("in the Indian language,
which is often more energetic than our civilized languages"), that "Je
veux m'assaisir." Does this verb have a crude connotation?
Thanks for your opinions.
