Idiom in Kamloops Wawa for "a rough/violent situation"

"aias til mamuk", literally "a big/very hard job" or "really tough doings".

This is on page 52 of issue #175 (April 1899), describing an Indian
murderer who was reluctant to emerge from the house of Chief Louis of
Kamloops when surrounded by white policemen:

"...ayu tkop man chako skukum
saliks, tiki mamuk pu ukuk haws kah
iaka mitlait.  Wik saia chako aias til
mamuk kopa tkop man pi sawash tilikom, wik
saia chako fait kanamokst."

"...many of the whites became extremely
angry, wanting to shoot up the house where
he was.  It almost came to a very rough
situation with the whites and Indians, it almost
came to a fight between them."
