A little more about 19th-century colloquial English 'jawbone' = 'credit',
which entered Chinuk Wawa at least in the Kamloops Wawa circulation area.
The word turns up in a dictionary of Central Carrier as jaboon 'credit'.
An example sentence is given. This suggests the word is 'real' Central
Carrier.
The book in question is "Central Carrier Bilingual Dictionary" published
in 1974 by the Carrier Linguistic Committee.
