In the latest issue of Oregon Historical Quarterly (winter 2005, vol.
106 #4), published by the Oregon Historical Society, there is an
interesting article on a Grand Ronde elder. "Humble Dignity: Tracing
the Lifeway of Kathryn Harrison" is by Kristine Olson, who is a prior
U.S. Attorney for Oregon.

Kathryn Harrison's great-great aunt, Molalla Kate, "spoke Chinook,
English, and a smattering of French." Kathryn's own story is a
fascinating one. A longer biography by Olson, "Standing Tall: The
Lifeway of Kathryn Jones Harrison, Chair of the Confederated Tribes
of the Grand Ronde Community", was published last year.
