Salutations

I reckon the following might reflect the way people actually said goodbye
in the interior BC Jargon-speaking world:

"TLUS, TLUS, TLUS, KANAWI TILIKOM.
KLAHAWIAM, KLAHAWIAM, KLAHAWIAM, KANAWI TILIKOM."

That's "Very well, very well, very well, everyone. Goodbye, goodbye,
goodbye, everyone."

It's from an 1894 letter.

A really interesting thing about people who've just learned to write is
that they usually write the way they talk. (This is a common finding in
studies I've read, anyway.)

So these Jargon letters are quite a window on the writers' world.
