Chinook songs in the Kootenai country

Kind of an outlier area for CJ, but one book I found has a character
claiming you must sing Chinook in order to attract & keep a wife.  "Told in
the Hill", 1891 (?), by Marah Ellis Ryan, published in New York by Grosset &
Dunlap.  

There are other mentions of CJ in the book.
