Need help with translation

Hi Tanya,

I've been a student in the Grand Ronde classes for a couple of years.
I think you could be thinking of maɬwəli (maLwEli) recorded from Bay
Center by Harrington as 'inland' in opposition to maɬni (maLni),
'seaward, out on the water.' I tend to think of these as coastal
words, with mayʔmi for 'downriver' and sax̣ali-tsəqw for 'upriver'
once you get away from the coast. maɬwəli also has the meaning of 'on
the other side' or 'away, elsewhere.'
