Wordmap Ltd is seeking a Senior Researcher who
is interested in working on the automatic derivation
of Ontologies/Taxonomies from text, and their application
to Information Extraction in the context of the EU
funded collaborative research project Parmenides
(http://www.crim.co.umist.ac.uk/parmenides/).

strength taxonomy management system. A privately held
company based in Bath Spa UK, Wordmap has specialized
in taxonomies from its inception in 1998. The design
of Wordmap's products takes account of advanced
techniques in computational linguistics as well
as established methods in indexing and
lexicography in addition to being designed for
ease of use and scalability.

Our areas of current interest include:

 - information retrieval and extraction
 - the use, application, and automatic derivation of ontologies/taxonomies
 - text and data mining
 - semantic web

Specific Requirements:
-----------------------

Interested applicants should have:-

	1) An advanced degree in Information Retrieval, Computer Science, or
related disciplines

	2) Strong coding skills in Java, Perl or C/C++
	
	3) Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
(publications desirable)
	
	4) Experience of working on their own initiative
	
	5) The right to work in the UK


Some European travel may be required.

This position is for a one-year contract.
