Course no. 1:  "The Case for a Corpus - Spoken and Written Corpora"
25th-29th June, Tuscany, Italy

This course will cover all aspects of the design and construction of spoken
and written corpora.
The course is almost full but there may be late places if some intending
participants drop out.

Course no. 2.  "Dial a corpus: compiling corpora from the web"

29th June - 2nd July, Tuscany, Italy

There are still places on this course, which is organised by TWC under the
auspices of the University of Siena.  Each session will be led by a scholar
with an international reputation in the field, and all the relevant issues
will be tackled at both practical and theoretical levels.  Note that the
focus of interest of this course is not on how to use the World Wide Web as
if it were a corpus, but on how to build a corpus using documents from the
web.  They must be located and evaluated for their suitability for a given
purpose.  We welcome participants who would like to join in the discussions
and/or outline personal projects and innovative techniques.  The cost of a
place on this Seminar is 1100 euros, including accommodation, all meals,
and local transport as arranged with the organisers.
