The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is launching a Call for
expression of interest to identify potential contract agents from all 27
Member States
On 28 March 2007, EPSO will launch, on behalf of the European Institutions a
general Call for expression of interest - EPSO/CAST/27/07 - to constitute a
database of candidates who may be offered a fixed term contract (contract
agents) to work for the European institutions or in their Delegations and in
Agencies over the course of the next three years.
This call for expression of interest will be published on the EPSO website
(http://europa.eu.int/epso) on 28 March 2007 at 15.00 Brussels time.
Deadline for online registration is 27 April at 12.00 (noon) Brussels time.
Early application is recommended to avoid any problems arising out of heavy
internet traffic.
Any citizen of an EU Member State may apply provided that they meet the
necessary criteria, e.g. qualifications and linguistic requirements and that
they comply with the general conditions specified in the text of the call.
The contract agents are an integral part of the staff of the European
Institutions; their working relationship with the Institutions are regulated
by the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European
Communities (CEOS). They are divided into four function groups corresponding
to the nature of the duties to be undertaken.
Typical types of duties within each function group include: Function Group
I: manual and administrative support service tasks; Function Group II:
clerical, secretarial and technical tasks, office management and other
equivalent tasks; Function Group III: executive tasks, drafting,
accountancy, technical and other equivalent tasks; and Function Group IV:
administrative, advisory, scientific and linguistic tasks. As a general
rule, contract agents work under the supervision of Officials.
The selection procedure consists of several steps: an initial eligibility
check of applications for the competency profile concerned, different tests
of candidates either via Computer-Based-Testing and/or paper based and
subsequent interview of successful candidates by the Institutions for
potential recruitment. The various tests will be carried out at different
stages in designated test centres throughout the European Union.
For further information and electronic registration, please refer to the
EPSO website http://europa.eu.int/epso.
