[Corpora-List] Job offer: Software developer engineer of NLP and ASR components under the Apache UIMA framework

Project context
---------------
With the amount and the multiple forms of multimedia data including
speech, text, image, video, it is important to develop new industrial
softwares in order to perform the tasks of automatic speaker
recognition and information retrieval in heterogeneous data (the Web).

The MILES Projects aims at tackling these problems. In particular, it
aims at developing a software architecture to identify speakers in
oral corpora by using a joint analysis of sound signal and of its
written transcription. Several Computer Sciences Laboratories are
involved in this project; among them the LINA (Nantes, France) and the
LIUM (Le Mans, France).

Job description
---------------
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer or similar. The job
consists of participating to the development of the software
architecture of the MILES project under the Apache UIMA (Unstructured
Information Management Architecture) framework. It will mainly consist
in integrating existing softwares, implementing new ones as native
UIMA components and building processing streams as identification
speaker systems.
The applicant will also work to make all the developed components
available for the scientific community.

Job profil
----------
Minimum requirements:
 * Solid programming skills in Software Engineering (designing,
implementing and packaging)
 * Experience in Java development and programming environments and
tools: Eclipse, SVN, Ant, Maven...
 * Linux operating system knowledge
 * Experience in the following domains: UIMA framework, Web portals
 * Experience with a script language as perl or python
 * Ability to work as a team

Recommended requirements:
 * Relevant knowledge of XML technologies
 * Experience in NLP (Natural Language Processing) or ASR (Automatic
Speech Recognition)
 * Experiences with Application servers, Web applications,

Location, Contract period and Remuneration

Salary: 2000 to 2500 euros (after taxes per month)  to be negotiated
