Marie Curie Scholarship in proofing tools at Tilde company

Tilde SIA invites applications for a research assistant position in  
proofing tools at the Department of Research and Architecture for a  
period of 21 month starting September 1, 2010.

The position involves participation in the EU project CLARA – Common  
Language Resources and their Applications, which is a Marie Curie  
Initial Training Network receiving funding from the European  
Commission’s 7th Framework Programme.
The specific position involves participation in the CLARA subproject  
Proofing tools and resources for under-resourced languages. The  
overall aim of the subproject is to develop proofing tools (mainly  
grammar checkers) for languages that currently do not have these  
technologies available. Two research directions are suggested. The  
first research direction will focus on multilinguality of grammar  
checking techniques. Existing grammar checking techniques will be  
evaluated to find language specific phenomena and new tools will be  
developed. The second research direction will be an investigation of  
the existing grammar checking methods and development of new methods  
to create suitable techniques to process deep syntactic structures of  
highly inflected languages.
