Hi, Chris.
One related recent publication is:
D. K Elson and K. R McKeown. 2010. Automatic attribution of quoted speech in literary narrative.
In Proceedings of AAAI.
The paper's results are achieved under unrealistic conditions (classifier uses intermediate gold labels as the sources for some of its features, because the decision at each position depends on previous quote attributions to the same speaker) and the corpus is not huge. It is also, as the title suggests, based on literary sources (and not news text).
Regards,
Mark Sammons

Subject: [Corpora-List] Detection of quotations and automatic attribution corpora
All,
Does anyone know of any related corpora or articles on the automatic detection of quotations and the attribution of authors to quotations (for any domain)?
Cheers,
Chris Fournier
