>>From dictionaries to language solutions - an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the world's leading dictionary publisher

Since the digitization of the Oxford English Dictionary in the 1980s, Oxford University Press (OUP) - the world's largest university press - has been at the cutting edge of digital innovation in lexical content. This has been achieved through our culture of integrating modern lexicographical methods with computational expertise.

As we grow our dictionary business in line with new digital opportunities, we are looking for an experienced Language Engineer with a passion for dictionaries and lexical applications. The successful candidate will join our language technology team developing the next generation of language resources. In addition to working in close collaboration with the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) and the Oxford current dictionaries programme, our team is also the main partner in OUP's Global Language Solutions programme, working together with some of the world's largest technology and information providers. These exciting developments would not be possible without our editorial, online, and business development teams, which we support in their day-to-day work.

You are a team-player with enthusiasm for exploring, developing, and applying innovative approaches in linguistic analysis, as well as an awareness of the issues involved in processing lexical data in diverse languages. Your sound programming skills are accompanied by several years of practical experience in the publishing industry or other type of business.

Expertise in any of the following would be an advantage:

* Perl, Python, Java, or similar
* XML, XSLT and related technologies
*    Statistical Language Processing
*    Machine Learning
* Lexical resources for data mining, sentiment analysis, or similar
*    Interactive web application development
* Creation of high-quality textual corpora
* Familiarity with a non-European language such as Arabic, Chinese or Japanese
