Natural Language Processing Technologist
Isis Forensics

Starting Pay: £35K - £50K per annum depending on experience

Isis Forensics, an innovative company based in the Infolab21 technology hub in Lancaster, is seeking to recruit an expert in natural language processing to help develop the technologies behind their next generation of solutions.

Isis Forensics specialises in building solutions for law enforcement, 3rd party service providers and consumers that help tackle online child abuse, cyber-bullying and other forms of online crime and anti-social behaviour. These solutions draw on cutting edge corpus-based natural language processing technologies that have been developed and refined over a period of 30 years. Isis Forensics requires a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead the continued expansion and maintenance of these technologies, and support their integration into Isis Forensics' products and solutions.

Responsibilities:

Innovate the language processing strategy for the company
Lead the development of new language processing approaches and technologies.
Maintain and support Isis Forensics existing natural language processing suite.
Collect large text corpus samples for training of the technologies.
Work with the product development team to integrate language processing technologies within Isis Forensics' solutions.
Participate in all phases of development from requirements analysis through to testing.
Provide regular updates to the management team.
Explain technologies and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Maintain the company's high standards of excellence.

Essential Requirements:

A postgraduate degree in the field of Natural Language Processing.
An excellent understanding of current Natural Language Processing techniques and algorithms
Minimum 5 years of programming experience in C, Java and Perl (or equivalent).
Experience of machine learning techniques.
Knowledge of code optimisation and techniques to achieve scalability.
Experience in all phases of software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, code review, testing, release and maintenance.
Self-motivated, critical thinker with strong technical background.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently but also be a core part of the team

Desirable Requirements:

Experience in developing small footprint algorithms and efficient memory management.
Experience in statistical and rule-based analysis techniques.
Experience in writing automated tests.
Knowledge of SQLite, MySQL or similar database management systems.
