Introduction

Greetings,

Please allow me to introduce myself to the list.  I am Don Winiecki, an Assistant Professor of Instructional & Performance Technology in the College of Engineering at Boise State University, Idaho USA.  (I see that we already have another representative from the state of Idaho, on the list.  Greetings from the South of Idaho!)

My research interest is principally in the area of ethnomethodology and conversation analysis -- insofar as it informs my work on "talking about," and "talking/typing through technological media."  However, as evidenced by my presence here, my interests slush to "near" methodological issues also.

I am currently working on an ethnomethodological and conversation analytic study of work  and talk-in-interaction at computer "help desks" and "call centers."  

My long term development work focuses on implementing findings from my E/CA work into natural language processing systems for computer help desks and call centers.
