How to talk your child into writing well

Thoughts come in the form of language, internal dialogue, the voice in the 
head; and if you cannot speak fluently, clearly or imaginatively, then of 
course you cannot think or write fluently, clearly or imaginatively either. 
There is stuff you can do at home to ensure that your child is a fluent and 
interesting speaker, and consequently, a better writer.

The major part of language acquisition happens before you get to school, and is 
modelled by parents. The actual number of words parents speak to their children 
is vital to the development of their vocabulary.
