Gunguly says 30,000 Japanese language students' target by 2010
New Delhi, May 18: India will meet its target of 30,000 Japanese language
students by 2010, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman Ashok
Ganguly said today.
While addressing the second All India conference on promotion of Japanese
language education here Mr Ganguly said, ''We are introducing Japanese language
as an optional foreign language in secondary school curriculum. Out of 9,000
schools, 90 of them have implemented Japanese as an optional subject. Twenty
schools implemented it last fiscal and 30 are likely to add it this financial
year.'' The major hurdle being faced in is non-availability of teachers, Mr
Ganguly said adding that there should be a paradigm shift in the style of
teaching.
