Job Description
The Department of Modern Languages at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Spanish Linguistics with a specialization in Second Language Education beginning in August, 2008.
Duties will include teaching foreign language pedagogy courses for secondary education majors in Spanish, German, and French; courses for the MA in Teaching Spanish, and Spanish undergraduate language, linguistics and methodology courses.
Duties will also include supervision of student teachers, research in foreign language education or a related field; advising minors, majors and graduate students; department, university and community service.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D in Spanish with emphasis in Second Language Education or Ph.D in Spanish Linguistics with an emphasis in second language acquisition/pedagogy, or related field completed by August 2008;
Teaching experience at the College level.
Superior proficiency in Spanish and English, evidenced by ACFTL rating, educational experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in second language acquisition, pedagogy, and assessment.
Strong evidence of scholarly research activity and a clear research agenda.
Supervision of student field work experience;
Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Teaching experience at the secondary level.
Proficiency in French or German.
Experience with NCATE.

Salary
$50,000-$53,000 depending on experience.
