POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

 

 


To teach all levels of a new content-based ESL curriculum, and linguistics courses including hybrid and online courses, participate in departmental and college assignments including positions of leadership, community services, student guidance, scholarly activities leading to professional growth, and other tasks normally associated with a full time teaching position. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

 


For appointment as Assistant Professor, candidate must possess a minimum of an earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Teaching English as a Second Language, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or a related field. Candidates should have experience teaching a diverse urban student population, and have expertise in helping students pass high-stakes tests in reading and writing. Experience using computer instruction, content-based instruction, and instruction at the adult or college level is preferred. Leadership skills are desirable, as well as the ability to conduct teacher-based research and other scholarly activities, including presentations and publications in scholarly conferences and journals.
