POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The successful candidate will teach a sequence of language courses taking students from zero linguistic proficiency to access to upper division courses; Chinese culture and literature courses designed to meet the needs of both heritage and second-language learners; Chinese for the professions, including, depending on student interest: business, trade, finance, international law and diplomacy, health-related professions and journalism. The department is seeking someone who will oversee all aspects of the Chinese program, including transfer credit, fulfillment of the language requirement, and eventually the hiring and training of one or more adjuncts. The successful candidate will maintain up-to-date information about study abroad; advise students about courses here, study abroad, and possible career paths; participate in the new minor in Asian studies; develop a pedagogy track for Chinese language and culture teachers; and help to prepare the teachers that primary and seconda!

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Doctorate required. Experience teaching Chinese language, literature and culture with fluency in Mandarin Chinese. This position is contingent upon financial availability.
