Welsh-medium education gains government strategy
The Assembly Government has unveiled a strategy to ensure that councils provide the Welsh-medium education that parents demand and said it would introduce legislation to compel them to do so if they failed to act.
Education minister Leighton Andrews unveiled the strategy with the promise of an extra £1.7m in 2010-11.
It acknowledges that in many areas of Wales pressure from parents has been the "main driver" which has persuaded policymakers to plan ahead for Welsh provision.
