Test Administrator/Training Coordinator - Center for Applied Linguistics
CAL Classification: Research/Program Assistant III
Salary: $40,245 - $57,188 (commensurate with experience)
Division: Language Testing Division (LTD)
Hours Per Week: 35 hrs/wk (100%)
Basic Function: Coordinates the development and production of administration training materials for assessments for English Language Learners in grades K-12. Works as part of a larger team that develops assessment and training products for a large multi-state consortium dedicated to the instruction and assessment of ELLs.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Coordinates the annual content update of WIDA test administrator training materials, including the Test Administration Manuals for ACCESS for ELLs and WIDA MODEL, as well as other multimedia presentations used for training.
* Ensures final edits and proofing of training materials are complete and handed off to WIDA in a timely manner, following quality control procedures.
* Coordinates administrator training tasks with WIDA project teams to ensure accuracy of content.
* Provides scoring arbitration and approves rationales for speaking samples used in training of test administrators.
* Provides support to test development team and gives input on testing materials from a test administration view point.
* Reviews evaluations from training sessions and incorporates feedback into future training materials.
* Works with outside consultants to conduct project work.
* Communicates with external stakeholders to ensure that diverse interests are represented in training materials.
* Participates as needed with test development through training field testers or external scorers, coordinating field testing, or conducting field tests.
* Some travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
B.A./B.S. in Linguistics, Education, Instructional Design, TESOL or related discipline. Masters degree preferred.
Experience:
* Must have 5 years relevant experience with at least 2 years experience teaching English language learners (ELLs) in K-12 in the United States. Experience with ELL standardized tests or training delivery preferred. Experience in the areas of ELL assessment, literacy and/or content area instruction is desirable. A commitment to improving education, particularly for ELLs, is essential.
* Must be able to work in a team as well as independently, prioritize work and give attention to detail while meeting deadlines. Ability to manage multiple tasks with help from outside consultants.
* Excellent writing skills; attention to detail when writing; editing skills; ability to write and create products with the perspective of the end-user in mind.
* Adeptness with technology, especially the latest version of Word. Experience with InDesign and Adobe software a plus.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly and professionally communicate via emails, phone, and in face-to-face work with co-workers, clients, CAL business partners, and administrators and teachers in schools.
* Excellent people skills; flexible; getting along well with others; a quick learner.
