Call for Papers
The International Linguistic
Association (ILA) invites submissions for its 57th annual conference
to be held at Borough of Manhattan
Community College, City University of New York, April 13-15, 2012.  Papers in any area of linguistics are
appropriate; however, the theme of this year’s conference is LANGUAGE AND
INSTITUTIONS. For this conference, participants are invited to
examine how language functions within institutions and/or how institutional
contexts shape language. These studies may focus on a wide variety of
institutions including, but not limited to, education, medicine, social work,
law enforcement, urban planning, religion, government, and family. Papers
addressing the theme may report qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method
research studies.  While we
encourage submissions relevant to the theme, we welcome proposals in all areas
of linguistics.
