Dear Colleagues,
The American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) is excited to announce the AAAL First Book Award which recognizes a scholar whose first book represents outstanding work in the field of applied linguistics. In granting this award, the association honors high quality books that make an exceptional contribution to the field as a whole or to a specific area of specialization. The AAAL First Book Award will be given biennially, alternating every other year with the AAAL Book Award.
Nominations for the First Book Award are made directly by publishers, who may submit up to two different titles for award consideration. Monographs with copyright dates of 2014 or 2015 are eligible.
In bestowing this award, AAAL seeks to raise awareness about outstanding work in applied linguistics and its impact on both the research community and society more widely. The deadline for nominations is June 1, 2016. More information about eligibility and submission procedures is available on the AAAL website:

Kathleen M. Bailey
