You are cordially invited to the Language Education and Multilingualism Conference at the University of Hamburg, 10-11 February, 2017



Dear colleagues,



This conference will be a special one: the 12 projects from the federally funded "Language Education and Multilingualism" research cluster will present their (interim) results and findings. Presentations will take place in parallel sessions as well as a poster exhibit. You can find an overview of the research cluster here<http://www.kombi-hamburg.de/index.html?lang=en>.



The conference will conclude with a panel discussion on the significance of the presented results for research on multilingualism, for educational practice, and for the career prospects of bi- and multilingual teenagers. Panelists will include representatives from the research cluster itself, educational policy and practice, and the world of employment. They will also discuss future challenges and research perspectives. The discussion will be moderated by Martin Spiewak from Die Zeit newspaper.



We are also pleased to announce that keynote lectures will be delivered by Professor Nancy Hornberger (University of Pennsylvania) and Professor Paul Leseman (University of Utrecht). Professor Hornberger will present "Researching the continua of biliteracy". The topic of Professor Leseman's lecture will be "Supporting multilingual development in (pre)schools for an inclusive society".
