Assistant Clinical Professor and TESOL Certification Programs Coordinator
The Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership is searching
for an Assistant Clinical Professor of Applied Linguistics and Language
Education who will serve as TESOL Certification Programs Coordinator,
working collaboratively with other faculty in the Division of Language,
Literacy, and Social Inquiry (LLSI) to coordinate the day-to-day activities
of two TESOL masters/PreK-12 certification programs and an undergraduate
TESOL minor, both on-campus and in local schools. The TESOL Certification
Programs Coordinator assists in recruitment and program improvement
initiatives, completes TESOL-CAEP/SPA reports, state and national data
recording as requested by the College of Education, communicates regularly
with students about program requirements and opportunities, collaborates
with program partners, and performs other related duties. Responsibilities
include teaching and service in the department. This is professional track
9-month position with an additional 2-month compensated summer commitment.
Minimum Qualifications
· Pre-K-12 classroom teaching experience.
· PhD or EdD in TESOL, language education, applied linguistics, or
related field.
· Evidence of ability to work with multiple stakeholders connected
to the teacher certification process. (e.g. Experience working
collaboratively with local schools and evidence of ability to manage
program details effectively.)
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience teaching or conducting research on issues applicable to
culturally and linguistically diverse populations and underrepresented
minorities.
· Teaching expertise in pre-K-12 assessment, ESOL methods,
culturally and linguistically diverse exceptional learners, dual language
education, or multiliteracies.
· Experience supervising teaching candidates.
· Experience teaching and advising in a teacher education program at
the master’s level.
· A demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentorship, including
working with students and groups from underrepresented backgrounds.
· Experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and
students, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity.
