Call for Papers 

Concerns about inequality continue to dominate academic and public debates in the face of major societal changes, such as rapid technological change, globalization, climate change, the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the consequences of the war in Ukraine. At this conference, we are particularly interested in exploring the political causes and con- sequences of inequality across different dimensions and empirical domains. For instance, how are different inequalities perceived by individuals, and what consequences do these perceptions have for preference formation and political participation? How and to what extent do inequality-related grievances trigger political mobilization and the rise of new social move- ments? And, finally, how do public demands influence and affect the responsiveness of policy-makers and what effect do policies have on structural inequalities? 

Contributions to this interdisciplinary conference address these, and related questions, in empirical domains, such as education, labor markets, health care, minority rights, language, and climate change. We invite contributions from scholars with a background in political science, sociology, economics, linguistics, education research, psychology, and law. We welcome different theoretical and methodological perspectives and particularly encourage early-career researchers to apply. 

10–12 April 2024 Konstanz, Germany

We cover costs for one presenter per paper

Format 

Climate Neutral Conference – CO2 emissions will be reduced and avoided as far as possible 

Hybrid Conference – personal attendance & online attendance (all sessions, talks and discussions will be live streamed)
