Event description
Join us for the next edition of the FOHLC Café, where we continue our
journey around the world! This interactive session will give you a chance
to learn from a practitioner in Ireland who is finding fun ways to help
Czech-speaking preschoolers maintain their heritage language --
successfully for more than ten years!

Grab a cup of coffee or tea and come chat about your experiences with other
people involved in heritage language education. Everyone is welcome:
teachers, community organizers, and anyone interested in multilingualism.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Program
This time, we are honored to welcome Ivana Rocca Kovářová, Co-founder and
director of the Czech School Dublin. In addition to managing the school,
she is responsible for coordinating preschool education and internships in
the Erasmus+ program and managing the school library. Ivana studied English
and pedagogy at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno. During
her studies, she began working with bilingual children, when she worked in
the first two English kindergartens in Brno.

At the Czech School of Dublin, Ivana is the head of preschool education and
also teaches in the preschool groups. She will tell us a bit about the
"Total Immersion Method" used in the Czech preschool that has been so
successful!
