Appeal from Finno-Ugrists in Helsinki (3rd try!)

Something must be wrong with the software of this list - I apologize for 
these two blank messages. 

In any case, the text I was trying to send concerns the plans of the 
Helsinki University Faculty of Arts to change the professorship 
of Finno-Ugrian language studies to a five-year, freely movable 
professor's office. This could mean abolishing the professor's office of 
Finno-Ugrian language studies (the only one in Helsinki, one of the two 
similar tenures in Finland) after five years.

Since the Faculty of Arts obviously has made this plan on the basis of 
inadequate and insufficient information (the committee that has designed 
this plan includes _no_ specialists in this field, and _no_ such 
specialists have been consulted!), without considering the 
consequences to the research of many endangered languages in Eurasia, we 
would be grateful if 
our colleagues around the world could appeal for us to the Faculty of
