Dear members, colleagues and friends,
The Executive Committee of IGALA is currently seeking nominations for members of our Advisory Council. The deadline for nominations is Monday, November 4, 2024, after which time members will be given the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates.
IGALA is embarking on an exciting period of change. While the excellence of our journal Gender & Language and our biennial conference remain our core strengths, we are hoping to see our caring, critical, and courageous community grow substantially over the next three years. We’d love you to be part of making this happen!
Please nominate yourself here. <https://forms.gle/PScX8vLnhthcoHvY8>
The Advisory Council consists of 5-8 gender and language scholars who are elected by IGALA members to input into our strategy and operations.
At least one member of the Advisory Council must be a graduate student and be willing to represent the interests of the broader grad student community on the council.
The Advisory Council should furthermore represent as broad a geographic and linguistic spectrum as possible. Nominations from scholars working outside of English-speaking contexts are especially welcome.
The term of an Advisory Council member is three years.
Joining the IGALA Advisory Council offers an opportunity to:
• Have a say in key decisions regarding IGALA’s growth and future direction
• Be part of important conversations about IGALA’s values and practices
• Contribute to an organisation underpinning research in your field
• Learn more about how an academic association is run
• Work alongside colleagues in the field from a range of contexts
• Adapt the work of IGALA to your local context
• Demonstrate your disciplinary service
Please nominate yourself here. <https://forms.gle/PScX8vLnhthcoHvY8>
We would like to thank the current Advisory Council for three years of excellent service:
• Alwin Aguirre
• Thu Ha
• Angela Zottola
• Koki Kapa
We could not run IGALA without you: thank you!
With our best wishes,
Scott Burnett, SecretaryDenise Troutman, PresidentLucy Jones, President-Elect
Claire Maree, Past-President
