[gothic-l] Storm over Europe - Third program

Dear listmembers,

The TV series in ZDF continued today with the struggle of
the Visigoths to settle in Italy. The program did well on
bringing in the Goths as joint founders of modern Europe.

There were excellent shots of the golden treasures of the
Goths in Bucharest.

An interesting part of the third installment dealt with
the Visigothic Kingdom of Toulouse, the battle
in 451 AD to stop the advance of the Huns. As concluded
in the program this Sunday: at one time the Visigoths
did really save the West Roman empire, but not for long.

The title of the next installment, Sunday March 24,
seems promising, The Inheritors of the Empire.

BTW, an interesting remark in today's program: All
the Visigoths wanted was to be guestworkers in the
Roman empire, and as such, they remained.
