Would like to recommend the article "Stories of Scandinavia:
The Olaus Magnus Map of 1539", Mercator's World - The
Magazine of Maps, Exploration, and Discovery, January-
February 2001, Volume 6, No. 1, pp. 26-33.

The Carta Marina, a wall map of nine sheets, was the first large-
scale map of any part of Europe.

There is a fine edition of Olaus Magnus _Historia de gentibus
septentrionalibus_ by the Hakluyt Society in London in three volumes
1996-1999.
