A couple questions for you concerning the words in brackets,
words I have questions about and would like collaborative
confirmation:
In 1:16 the use of "faurthis"
1:20 *gudiskei; your preference of *unsunjodai (cf. also 2:1 *
ungasunjoths) or *unfaurqithanai, or perhaps a periphrasis?
1:21 *riqizidedun or a periphrasis?
1:26 *wisteigs etc. = "natural". agree or have other suggestion?
1:28 taujan, du taujan or ei taujaina?, also does *ungasatido
(also in 1:31) make sense?
More on skathis, this was taken from 2 Cor. 12:13. Inwinditha is
used almost universally elsewhere.
Also, more information on "disniman". Here i think it is right, in
the sense of "suppress". Here it is in the new american
standard (most literal reputed): 18 For the wrath of God is
revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in
unrighteousness,
Greek idiomatic sort of preposition at the end there. I.E. People
who suppress the truth (which is an unrighteous thing to do) or
People who are unrighteous because they suppress (i.e. hold
back, withhold, hide) the truth. Koebler gives the meaning
"possess, keep", which may be the general meaning in Latin
and Greek (possidere and katekhw). Perhaps the phrase "in
unrighteousness" is meant to augment or specify the meaning
of "katekhw", i.e. "the kind of possessing that is unrighteous" i.e.
"evilly hoarding or keeping [without letting others see it--or
whatever in context would be considered evil]"
Perhaps warjan would be good. cf. Luke 6:29? werjais (Gk.
kwluseis) MnE "withhold"
2:5 *hardithai
2:28 *andaugjon for [en tw fanerw] ...
And if you have a good idea for
3:2 Gk. logia MnE "oracles"
Cheers,
Matthew
