 It should be noted that 'jiuleis' (masc. ja-stem) does NOT mean 'yule' but rather the name of a month corresponding more or less to 'December.' The expected Gothic word for 'yule', based on the early Germanic cognates (OE 'geo(hho)l', ON 'jol'), would be *'jiul' (neut. a-stem). The neologism 'godans jiulans,' which was cited in the earlier posting, is what one might call 'Gothese,' or Gothic (re)construction without any scientific basis.
