Hi everybody,

isn't it actually irrelevant whether HPSG and cousins are called generative
grammar or not? And, given the general tendency to not like what Chomsky is
currently branding under this name, why is it necessary at all to call
oneself a generative grammarian? Why don't you take it like Groucho Marx?
