It's by no means clear that Slavic does have the *-om; the final -u (I can't
do diacrtics in this programme, I mean *u + micron, or a back jer) in jazu
can easily have alternative derivations, see Hamp's article in IJSLP 1983,
and my article in Canadian Slavonic Papers 1988. I'm actually dealing with
that issue in slightly more detail in my forthcoming book Common Slavic
Nominal Morphology - A New Approach.
