Let me wave my flag again.    Even if they are more like the Greek-Sanskrit
system, I still don't believe we can equate this with general IE.   There is
some argument that the Germanic-Hittite system might have at least as strong
a case for being closer to the original PIE.   As for attested IE, it may be
difficult to identify what the "IE" system is, given the variety.
