Dear Joseph
Brian Macwhinney was working with me quite some time ago on a MOR system for Kiswahili but we only made a few steps into nouns. It's a huge job, probably a PhD in itself.
Some researchers think MLU in words is fine though. I am not far from Leeds, in Lancaster - we should meet up. We have regular child language reading groups, mainly in Manchester. I'll make sure you're invited.
Who's your supervisor in Leeds?

Subject: Calculating MLU with CLAN
Dear All,
I am a PhD student researching the acquisition of object markers in Bemba, a
Bantu language widely spoken in Zambia. I would like to calculate MLU of
the children I am studying but have realized that using words as units of
measurement is not an accurate way of finding the MLU in an agglutinating
language like Bemba. I would appreciate learning from those who have faced a
similar problem and how they solved it using CLAN.
Thank you.
