Assistant Professor, tenure-track, in Spanish Applied Linguistics
with specialization in second language acquisition is being sought
by the department pending final approval.

Professional-level proficiency in Spanish and English required.
The successful candidate must present and pursue a well-defined
research agenda and publication program, and also be prepared to
direct student research.

The position also involves:

  (1) providing administrative and academic oversight as the
Director of a professionally-administered, technology-enhanced
basic language program in Spanish; and

  (2) teaching with a reduced load at the undergraduate level
(in such areas as Foreign Language Education and Teaching
Methodology) as well as in an interdisciplinary doctoral program
in Second Language Acquisition. Experience in course supervision,
program direction and instructional technology preferred.

Applicants should hold the Ph.D. by the date of appointment.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting date: August 2001.

sample publications and/or dissertation chapter, and evidence of
excellence in teaching (statistical summaries for at least three
courses preferred) must be received by December 1, 2000.
