Estimados/as colegas: 

El Comité Organizador del próximo Congreso de AESLA se complace en anunciar que 
el Congreso anual, en su XXV edición, se celebrará en la Universidad de Murcia 
(Campus de la Merced), situado en el centro de la ciudad, del 19 al 21 de abril 
de 2007. El tema del congreso será 25 años de Lingüística Aplicada en España: 
hitos y retos. Con este título pretendemos traer a la memoria de los socios de 
AESLA y participantes en el Congreso los momentos iniciales de nuestra 
asociación, promovida precisamente en la Universidad de Murcia por los 
profesores R. Monroy y A. Sánchez, catedráticos de Filología Inglesa, a los 
cuales se unieron un nutrido grupo de profesores de la Universidad de Granada. 
Fue en esta universidad donde se celebró la primera reunión constitutiva de la 
Asociación. El congreso está organizado por el Departamento de Filología Inglesa 
de la Universidad de Murcia.
  

Tema

El tema del XXV Congreso de AESLA es: 
"25 años de Lingüística Aplicada en España: hitos y retos" 

Nuestro objetivo es no tanto hacer un recorrido histórico sobre el desarrollo de 
la LA en España en los últimos 25 años, sino más bien centrarnos en los 
diferentes temas y áreas que han surgido y se han ido consolidando a lo largo de 
estos años, amén de adentrarnos en el futuro que ya se vislumbra en algunas 
investigaciones lingüísticas aplicadas a diversos campos de nuestro entorno. 
Pretendemos, pues, que este congreso sea un foro multidisciplinar de todos los 
grandes temas en torno a los cuales se vertebra actualmente la Lingüística 
Aplicada, especialmente en nuestro país. De esta manera el 25 congreso de AESLA 
ilustrará el momento en que nos encontramos en los estudios e investigaciones 
propios de la Asociación y servirá como punto de encuentro entre investigadores 
de diferentes disciplinas cuya preocupación central es el estudio del lenguaje y 
sus aplicaciones a las diversas ciencias que constituyen el saber humano.

 Dear colleagues: 

The organising committee of the next AESLA conference is pleased to announce the 
25th Annual Conference to be held at the University of Murcia (Campus de la 
Merced), situated in the city centre, from 19th to 21st April, 2007. The theme 
of the conference is to be 25 years of Applied Linguistics in Spain: milestones 
and challenges. This title is designed to remind the members of AESLA and the 
conference participants of the beginnings of our association, founded here in 
the University of Murcia by Dr. R. Monroy and Dr. A. Sánchez, Professors of 
English Philology, supported by a large group of teachers from the University of 
Granada, at which university the first constituent meeting of the association 
was held. The 25th Conference is organised by the English Department at the 
University of Murcia. 

  
Theme

The theme of the 25th AESLA Conference is:
"25 years of Applied Linguistics in Spain: milestones and challenges" 

Our aim is not so much to present a historical review of developments in Applied 
Linguistics in Spain in the last 25 years as to focus on the different topics 
and areas that have arisen and have gradually been consolidated over the years, 
as well as to move into the future that can already be discerned in linguistic 
research applied to various fields in the world around us. Thus our goal for 
this conference is to be a multidisciplinary forum around all the main themes on 
which Applied Linguistics hinges, especially in Spain. Thus, the 25th AESLA 
Conference will illustrate the point that we have reached in the research and 
studies peculiar to the association and will serve as a meeting point between 
scholars from different disciplines whose main concern is the study of language 
and its applications to the diverse sciences that make up human knowledge.
