Description:
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the
University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN is seeking applications
for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Ph.D.
preferred (ABD considered) with a specialization in second
language acquisition/pedagogy and native or near-native fluency
in Spanish, previous experience coordinating lower division
language courses a plus. Chosen applicant will coordinate the
introductory and intermediate Spanish language programs at the
university, and while coordinating the normal teaching load of
three courses per semester will be reduced to two per semester
through course releases.
Salary commensurate with qualifications. Willingness to teach at
all levels of the program, including the language requirement
sequence, is expected. Established scholarly record or potential,
demonstrated excellence in teaching and service are important
components of the position. Other duties include student
advising, department and university service and involvement in
study-abroad programs. Innovative approaches to teaching and
demonstrated knowledge/use of technology in the classroom are
highly desirable.
