[Lexicog] Issues regarding a free dictionary

Hi Arun,
may I ask you on which programming language you thought? Well I would
like to explain things in a more detailed way, but I suppose it would
become too much.
I am a member of the Ultimate Wiktionary development team - and the
Ultimate Wiktionary software is going to be a free software part of
Mediawiki (as Wikidata). This will be a
Dictionary/Thesaurus/translation dictionary with the possibility to add
parts of speech, photos, sign language and many other features. Since
contents are free we thought about giving download possibility and
extract data in various ways.
On one hand accessability through OmegaT, a free (GPL) CAT-Tool (CAT=
computer assisted translation - please don't mix with machine
translation, this is completely different).
There should be the possibility to download the data in different
formats - tables, tbx.
Now there are already some programmers working on it - a first version
(only read version) should be available around Christmas and a complete,
editable version around March (please bear in mind that what is being
done here is a very complicated issue since it integrates the answers to
many requirements).
The way it is edited will follow very much the way of the Wikipedia
(attribution etc.) and there will be a validation feature.
Wouldn't it make sense to co-operate?
Thank you for your time!
Best wishes,
Sabine
