Hi Fritz,

In Owa (Austronesian) "finua" means the inhabited area, i.e. the village, home, the home area, the area not in the bush and away from the bush spirits and safe from enemy ambushes.

  Fritz,

In Amele (Papuan) *jobon* 'village' is the equivalent to English *home*
rather than *jo* 'house'. If you say *ija jobon nuigina* lit. "I am going
village" it means "I am going home'. In Amele 'home' is being amongst your
people rather than being in a special geographical location.
