hi, i see from the recent call for abstracts for lfg2000
that there is a possibility that there will not be any
workshops specific to the lfg portion of the joint conference.
i would like to encourage the lfg community to try to plan
for at least one workshop for lfg200: there were several
intriguing issues that arose in manchester (functional
categories, interfacing lfg with theories of morphology,
among others) which were bandied about as potential
workshops. in the past i've found that the workshop
forum has proved to be a fairly reliable,
fertile concentration of
excellence in the program and i believe that this
tradition is worth continuing. i hope that others
share this impression and that efforts will be made
to come up with at least one solid workshop proposal.
regards to all, farrell
