More than this, those three main varieties are themselves composed of
many more local varieties with slight differences (like all languages!).

No, the "adaptations of the French system" are one of the writing
systems. The varieties are linguistic dialectal varieties. The writing
systems are applied to them (mainly the first one, made for this).

 What about Auvergnat,

They are distinct languages with distinct written traditions and
different spellings.
