Kontseilua says language policies of parties fall short

The association has analysed the parties election manifestos with respect
to the normalisation of the Basque language

Editorial Staff DONOSTIA (San Sebastian)

The language policy of most of the parties is ineffective. Kontseilua has
examined the parties manifestos for the elections in the BAC-Basque
Autonomous Community and stresses that shortcomings have been found,
according Xabier Mendiguren, the associations general secretary. In a
press conference called in Donostia (San Sebastian) yesterday Mr.
Mendiguren said a commitment in the election manifestos is indispensable
to bring about the normalisation of the Basque language

Kontseilua conducted research to find out whether there is any progress in
the process to normalise the Basque language. It examined the manifestos
of the EAJ-PNV -EA coalition, the PP, the PSE-EE, EB, UA, Aralar, the
Alderdi Humanista (Humanist Party), Berdeak-Pacma (Greens) and Batasuna,
because these were the manifestos it had managed to obtain from among all
the parties.
