Some principals required to be bilingual

From: Dallas Morning News: http://www.dallasnews.com

DALLAS A legal challenge could be in store for a new Dallas school
district policy requiring some principals to become bilingual. The measure
approved last night applies to schools where at least half of the students
enrolled in the past three years had limited proficiency in English. The
school district will pay for the bilingual training -- which in most cases
would be Spanish.

The Dallas Independent School District is about two-thirds Hispanic.
Administrators will have one year to enroll and three years to become
proficient in that language. The group ProEnglish has said it would
consider backing a legal challenge to the policy.
