Stills Is Just The Ticket To Deliver Double-Decker Design
GROUND breaking Welsh design and communications agency Stills took a new
route with its latest commission.
The leading-edge agency was given the task of transforming a London bus
into a Tardis-like mobile technology centre. Never ones to shirk a
challenge the innovative Cardiff-based agency used the depth of creative
ingenuity in its talented team first to fashion a blueprint for the
transformation of the double-decker bus into space-age technology learning
centre and then to see the project through from start to finish.
The joint BT/Wales Millennium Centre (WMC) commission for the creation of
a peripatetic Technology Bus was a demanding and challenging project for
Stills. Stills Creative Director and company joint founder David Lea said:
In all honesty the client brief was so clear that the work was relatively
straight forward.
We carried out the detailed design work, manufactured the component parts
required by the design and then shop-fitted the bus from top to bottom.
The work involved us in using some of our core skills related to the
exhibitions work we do. It was a hugely challenging and ultimately
rewarding project which thousands of people will get a chance to see and
experience in the weeks and months ahead.
Alun Thomas, BT Welsh language policy and strategy manager, said the
BT/WMC Technology bus will tour major festivals in 2005 highlighting BT
technologies and promoting WMC events. Under the partnership theme
Bringing World Class Entertainment to All, the bus will be present at, for
example, the Royal Welsh Show and the National Eisteddfod.
Mr Thomas said: Were delighted with the quality and standard of work
produced and delivered for us to deadline by Stills. Stills came highly
recommend to us from the Welsh Language Board after the agency had
completed such fantastic work with the creation of its new corporate
identity and logo.
We are extremely happy with all aspects of the work delivered but we are
particularly pleased with their imaginative creation of the on board
Internet cafe bar.
The BT/WMC festival bus will tour all the major festivals in Wales during
2005 highlighting BT technologies and services along with promoting events
at the WMC.
