with a range of conceptual, analytical and methodological approaches  
to language and social interaction; have a strong record of

applying the results of those analyses to 'real world' issues and  
problems. Areas of specialization might include but are not limited  
to: language and the professions (e.g. law, government, business);  
classroom discourse, including multilingual interaction and (multi) 
literacies; media discourse; minority languages and dialects; gender  
and language; pidgins and creoles; language socialization in and  
outside of school; or child discourse. PhD must be in hand by August  
2007. Send letter of application, CV, and at least one publication to  
Sociolinguistics Search Committee, Department of Linguistic s, Box  
571051, Georgetown University, Washington, DC 20057-1051. For full  
consideration, applications must be received by October 17.

Campus visits are tentatively scheduled for late November/early
